DFID to provide Rs 240cr to fight malnutrition in Orissa

Bhubaneswar (Orissa) : Department for International Development [DFID] will provide Rs 240 crore ( 30 million UK pound) to Orissa to support its ongoing nutrition programme.

Impressed by the Naveen Patnaik government’s success rate in reaching out the deprived children and adults in providing required nutrition, the DFID agreed to release the assistance in three tranches.

The British government’s aid agency also will keep on supporting Orissa government in the poverty reduction programme by providing financial assistance in the key areas of health care, education, tribal development and irrigation sectors.

A three member team led by the British High Commissioner to India, Sir Richard Stagg, Department for International Development [DFID] head in India, Michael Anderson and British Deputy High Commissioner based at Kolkata, Sanjay Wadwani met with the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other top officials on Wednesday and discussed about the outcome of the decade long partnership with the state.
