Bhubaneswar ( Orissa ) : State's premier educational institution, the Utkal University on Tuesday singed a Memorandum of Understanding with Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha, Department of Ayush, a unit of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to promote traditional medicines in the State.
"In an attempt to avail academic infrastructure with special focus on traditional medicines like Ayurveda, Pharmacy and Heompathy, we have signed the MoU with CCRAS," University Vice-Chancellor Binayak Rath said.
He further added that an Herbal Garden will be opened in the campus as per the MoU. Prof Rath and CCRAS Director General GS Lavelkar signed the MoU.
The Union Health Ministry would extend financial support for it and it would help students for research work, Prof Rath added. "Orissa has a lot of potential, so we have to create man power to promote traditional medicines and avail it in lower prices as well," the VC added.
"Ayurveda originated in India and is one of the oldest medical systems in the world, so it needs proper care for survival, he said.
