Hundreds of tourists including foreigners on Wednesday throng to Puri Beach to see a sandy Olympic Stadium being sculpted by World Champion Sudarshan Pattnaik.
Reading the Olympic Games is a multifarious and potentially very tiring task: twenty-eight sports, 300 events, over 200 countries and 10,000 athletes offer no shortage of narratives, holding this, tourists tried to understand the historic values behind the Olympics through Pattnaik's mind-blowing sculpture on Puri Beach, the land of Lord Jagannath.
Pattnaik has created a sandy Olympic stadium with the symbol of Olympic Game and in between he put the message “Good Luck to Indian Team".
Speaking to www.odishatoday.com told that it took around 8 hours to create this sculpture with 10 tons of sand and students of his Sand Art Institute assisted him.
I created this because I like sports and want to encourage the Indian Team and to wish perform best in Olympic game, the noted sand artist further said.
It may be noted here that Pattnaik had earlier participated in many sports events like 1999 cricket World cup in England, FIFA World cup 2006 in Berlin, Doha Asian Game- 2006 and shown his talent through sand.
Recently Pattnaik got the title of World Champion by winning the 1st USF World champion ship. He has so far participated in more than 37 international sand sculpture championships across the world and won many awards for the country.
Through his art, he helped the tsunami victims in India, save the endangered Olive Ridley Turtles and spread awareness of the dangers of HIV-AIDS and polio.
