Keeping in mind current political developments, the President has requested the Prime Minister to meet her tomorrow, the 10th of July, 2008 to have his views on these developments.
Earlier in eventful day, when high voltage political drama was thick in the air at the National capital in New Delhi, Prakash Karat, General Secretary, CPI(M), A.B. Bardhan, General Secretary, CPI Debabrata Biswas, General Secretary, All India Forward Bloc and Prof. T.J. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, RSP called on the President today at 12.00 noon and submitted letters of withdrawal of support of their respective to the UPA Government.
A list of 60 MPs belonging to the Left Parties was also submitted.
The delegation also submitted a joint letter signed by them stating that in view of the withdrawal of support by the Left parties to the Government, the Prime Minister may be directed to seek a vote of confidence in the Lok Sabha immediately.
On the other hand just 45 minutes after the withdrawal of support, Amar Singh, National General Secretary of Samajwadi Party along with Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav, Leader, Samajwadi Parliamentary Party also called on the President at 12.45 p.m.and submitted a letter along with a list of 39 MPs reiterating their support extended earlier to the Congress led UPA Government which according to them was never withdrawn.
