Bhuabeswar (Orissa) : The OSMA has called off its proposed strike after holding a crucial meeting with
Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here at State sSecretariat tonight.
OMSA president Madhu Sudan Mishra said that the Chief Minister has given commitment to fulfil all demands of OMSA doctors within three months.So we have decided to postponed our strike for three months.We have faith with the Chief Minister and his commitment.
Chief Minister's last minute effort came few hours after the OMSA rejected to postpone its cease work from Sunday even despite the invocation of Essential Service Maintenance Act.
Sources said that the meeting would certainly find any solution to cover up the crisis. The Government may accept few other demands of OMSA, added the source.
'The Government will not lift ESMA until OMSA withdraws its strike plan,' said a senior Health Department official.
OMSA demanded immediate lifting of ESMA and fulfillment of their demands, including withdrawal of dismissal order on three medicos on charge of chopping palms of three Kalinganagar victims during postmortem, the Government reportedly remained adamant on its stand.
Meanwhile, medical services across the State badly hit as doctors underground feared arrest with the Orissa Government invoking Essential Services Maintenance Act ahead of their indefinite strike from Sunday.
After the invocation of ESMA, police have started manhunt campaign to nab the fleeing doctors.
