Bhubaneswar ( Orissa) : The Orissa Jail Officers Association has decided to go on mass leave from August 26.

The association president Biswa Bhanu Pattnayak, in a memorandum to the Chief Minister asked to settle their demands on or before 22 August.

Giving the deadline, Pattnayak said unless their 16-point demands fulfilled, the officers would go on leave from 26 August.

He said that the State Government is extremely generous towards the employees of other department. In fact Patnaik has opened the treasury to pamper the employees and officials by awarding higher pay benefits and higher status, while the officers working in the jails are debarred from any such benefits, he said.

Pattnayak further said that for last 18 years OJOA is harping for the genuine demands to be fulfilled. But no body bothers and the higher ups in Jail Administration continue to delay in taking decisions in this regards.

While futile exercise of discussions and deliberations were going on, no concrete steps are being taken in this regard.

Secondly mandarins in the State Secretariat have almost closed doors for discussion, resulting serious discontent among the members of OJOA.

They have appealed the Chief Minister to intervene in the matter and fulfill their demands by 22 August.
