First, young Collector of Kandhamal Krishna Kumar bowled out Naveen Patnaik, when the latter asked for report on damaged church and other religious institutions during the communal violence.
Second time, the bachelor Chief Minister played on when, Union Agriculture Minister and Nationalist Congress Party chief, Sharad Pawar pitched another googlee on November 17 at State Secretariat here.
The Minister's inquiry on the security preparedness on slain Swami Swami Lakshmananda Saraswati, left everybody speechless. Pawar asked that on August 23 how many persons were in charge of the security of the VHP leader.
Then the reply came, "There was a section of police force along with 1 Personal Security Officer ", said DGP Manmohan Praharaj.
How many of them were killed while trying to save the Swami, asked Pawar. None were killed as they left the place to save their lives, the DGP reportedly replied.
The Chief Minister was shocked to learn that the security personnel in charge of the security of the 68-year old Swami, who was killed by unidentified gunmen, ran for their lives, when they attacked.
The NCP chief said that when the police failed to protect the life of Swami, his associates tried to save Swami's life and 4 of them laid their lives for their Guru.
Highly placed sources revealed that Pawar did his preliminary studies seriously and put the State Government into huge embarrassment.
The hunger atlas of Orissa, which projected Kandhamal as the most poverty zone came in handy for the Union Food Minister. He asked to submit the food stock available in the "Hunger Zone" for last 4 years and how much has been lifted by people.
The Union Minister reportedly wanted to know stats on lifting of the much-hyped Rs.2 KG Rice in the district.
