Bhubaneswar (Orissa): The State Cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved the supplementary Budget-2008-09 for the State. More than Rs 7,250 crore has been placed in the Budget.
The Budget has made allocation for facilitating the implementation of the recommendations of the 6th Pay panel. Earlier on Monday, the Fitment Committee had recommended to the State to implement the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission.
It has also made provision for giving 20 per cent block grant to the teachers. Budgetary provisions have been made to provide funds to implement the Rs 2 per kg rice. Rs 110 crore has been placed for Gopabandhu Gramin scheme as per the normal procedure. Another additional Rs 185 crore has been also allocated for the Gopabandhu Gramin scheme.
Rs 1,432.44 crore has been placed in the State plan, Rs 185.86 crore placed as State's share for the ongoing Central scheme, Rs 117. 96 crore earmarked for Central sponsored revised scheme, Rs 90.36 crore for Central schemes and Rs 5,378 crore placed in the un-planned sector.
Listening to the Ministers demand of more funds their respective departments, Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai assured them to look into the demands.
The Cabinet also gave its nod to the commencement of the Winter Session of the Assembly from November 26.
