Bargarh (Orissa): Opposition BJP women members took off the saree of Congress Sarpanch Phula Mirdha in Orissa’s Bargarh district due to their political bitterness, sources said on Friday.

The incident arose from some disputes between members of the rival parties over the distribution and execution of a concrete roadwork at Chiroli village of Kumir grampanchayat, 100 km from the district headquarters.

According to sources, Mirdha went to Chiroli village to inspect the ongoing roadwork. Suddenly, at the instruction of some youth, some ladies of the village rushed to the spot to make her undress. The shocked and impasse lady ran to the nearest house to save her from the shame.

They didn't get satisfied with making her totally naked in front of the youth at the heart of the village, rather an youth hung her saree at a pillar like a 'victory flag' of the opposition group.

Bargarh Superintendent of Police AK Biswal said, a case has been registered at the Jagdalpur police station as per the complaint of Mirdha and investigation is on by the SDPO. Action will be taken after the investigation, he said.
