Orissa boy to participate in world youth chess champ
Bhubaneswar: Utkal Ranjan Sahu, a student of class VI, has been selected to participate in the world youth chess championships 2007 scheduled to be held from November 17 to 29 at Antalya, Turkey.
| About 2000 players from all over the world will participate in the championship being organised by the government of turkey and the Turkish chess federation. The 11-year old boy had bagged a silver in the under-10 category in the Asian youth chess championship in Tehran. He also participated in the Asian youth chess championship at Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Utkal, a product of the chess learning centre run by the Sports department of the RSP, bagged the first position in both under-11 and under-13 categories in the state chess championship held at Bhubaneswar. |
