Orissa boy to participate in world youth chess champ

Bhubaneswar: Utkal Ranjan Sahu, a student of class VI, has been selected to participate in the world youth chess championships 2007 scheduled to be held from November 17 to 29 at Antalya, Turkey.

About 2000 players from all over the world will participate in the championship being organised by the government of turkey and the Turkish chess federation.

The 11-year old boy had bagged a silver in the under-10 category in the Asian youth chess championship in Tehran. He also participated in the Asian youth chess championship at Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

Utkal, a product of the chess learning centre run by the Sports department of the RSP, bagged the first position in both under-11 and under-13 categories in the state chess championship held at Bhubaneswar.
