Orissa poised to emerge as Biotech hub

Bangalore : Orissa is rich treasure house of biodiversity and Orissa Govt is taking every steps to attract big companies to set up their plant in Orissa.
On the sideline of Bangalore bio 2007, on Thrusday, Director, Boitechnology, Govt of Orissa said, the State is poised to emerge as a Biotech hub in the country.
Participating in the three day " Bangalore Bio2007" Orissa show cashing its' potential in the field of Biotechnology.
Participating in the event, B.K.Panda , Chairman of MITS, a leading engineering college, which also provides biotechnology education in Orissa said, Orissa has a huge potential in Boitechnology.
"We should groom the talent through Biotechnology education in the state to emerge as a Biotech hub in the country", He further added.
Catering to the demand of the biotech education in the state MITS is going to introduce MTech course in Genetics Engineering , from this academic year.

Earlier inaugurating seventh edition of " Bangalore Bio 2007", Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram said it is important to deploy Biotechnology to improve agriculture production in the country.
