Bhubaneswar ( Orissa ) : The youth wing of the BJP on Thursday held a demonstration and blockade road in Cuttack city demanding immediate roll back of price hike in petroleum products.

The protesters blocked the Kolkata-Chennai national highway and disrupted traffic for several hours.

“The move was totally unnecessary and a slap on the face of common man,” city president Biswaranjan Mishra said.

The Central Government increased the price at a time when the country was in the grip of recession and we have demanded its withdrawal as the hike would only push up the prices of essential commodities, he said.

The Government Wednesday allowed state-run oil firms to increase prices of transport fuels, resulting in petrol becoming dearer by Rs 4 per litre and diesel by Rs 2 per litre.
