Bhubaneswar ( Orissa ) : With opportunities across the eastern region thriving, CII ( eastern region ) seeks to create cooperation between all the states for encashment. Mr Mukul Somany, Chairman, CII Eastern Zone opined to create separate branding of Eastern India in various verticals.
“We need to promote east in different verticals like healthcare, ICT, Infrastructure, SME and Tourism, where we have strong footing so that all the states can be benefitted,” Mr Somany said.
He further said that the CII Eastern Region has taken new initiatives like Destination East, Biz Bridge, Rural Marketing Conclave, Coal Nex, Rebuild – Resettlement & Rehabilitation and Port Conclave. “We are also planning to hold a Port Conclave on December 9 in the state to highlight the potential of the strong coastline of Orissa that can serve as the logistics hub of Eastern India in future,” he said.
Enterprise Orissa is the flagship programme of the CII and it aims at providing impetus to investors from both within and outside, besides providing them the opportunity to launch new products and promote existing ones.
The Orissa chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Eastern Region held a press conference here in Bhubaneswar on Friday to mark the commencement of its four day industrial fair -14th Enterprise Orissa 2009, organized in collaboration with the Orissa government.
Discussing some of the policy initiatives of CII, Mr Somany said, “through our model land leasing act, we intend to press for legalized land leasing within the sealing limits, without alienating the ownership rights of farmers and automatic resumption of land unless renewal of the leasing act.
CII has submitted a recommendation to the Ministry of Rural Development in this regard.” Mr Somany also discussed CII’s policy initiatives in Orissa such as its R&R Policy, the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) and the Tourism Policy.
He also spoke about the wealth creation policy initiative of CII through which it aims to raise farm incomes by raising productivity by strengthening the input side, such as providing more and better seeds to the farmers. CII has presented this as a 10-point agenda to the Ministry of Agriculture.
