Bhubaneswar (Orissa) : Naveen Patnaik Government in Orissa is showing leniency to Essel Mining and Industries Limited, a unit of Adiya Birla Group, alleged senior BJP leader Uma Ballav Rath on Friday in a statement.
Demanding a probe into the Rs 4269 crore scam done by the mining firm in Keonjhar district, Rath said that the firm has been looting mineral resources since last five years without valid license and forest clearance.
Rath asked how the same company signed a MoU with State Government to construct a port at Chudamni in Bhadrak district.Even the State Mines Minister and State Pollution Control Board have issued warning to the mining firm but no action has been taken as the company officials are in a fix with several senior BJD leaders.
Several senior Mines Department officials including Secretary Ashok Dalwai are helping them, Rath said adding the company has deputed two Oriya officers to negotiate with senior BJD leaders to escape from Vigilance probe being carried by the State Government.The Government instead taking action against Essel, it helping it, Rath said.
Only CBI probe could reveal more, he said adding the company is also transporting iron and ore illegal to Jharkhand after the State Government ordered for a Vigilance probe in to the mining scam.
The company has looted Rs 4269 crore in five years and now planning a port with an investment of Rs 1500 crore, he alleged.
