Bhubaneswar (Orissa) : Orissa government cleared investment proposals of five new thermal Power projects and expansion of two existing power plants worth Rs 48,500 crore on Wednesday.
All these projects
will create employment opportunity for nearly six thousand people
The new power projects cleared by the committee include 3200 MW plant National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at Dharanipali in Sundergarh district with an investment of Rs 18,000 crore on 3000 acres of land. This project will create direct employment to 2000 peoples.
Similarly Orissa Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) will setup 2000 MW plant at Rengali with an investment of Rs 8,250 crore . The company will be provided 2100 acres of land and it will create employment to one thousand peoples.
The proposal of BGR to set up a 1320 MW plant with an investment of Rs 6,300 crore at Bhapur in Nayagarh district has also been approved. . The company will be provided 1100 Acres of land where as at least 400 people will get employment opportunity.
The high power committee has also give its nod to JR Power Gen Private Limited to set up a plant at Bainda in Angul district which will bring investment of Rs 8,000 crore. The company will be provided 2000 Acres of land. About 1300 people will get employment opportunities.
Similarly a1320 MW plant will be set up by Adhunik Power Company Limited at Birmaharjpur in Sonepur district with an investment of Rs 8000 crore.
The company will be provided 1300 acres of land while it will give direct employment opportunity to 800 peoples.
The existing projects which were given permission to go for expansion are Chambal Infrastructure Limited (from 1200 MW to 1320 MW and GMR Limited (1050 MW to 1400 MW).
The projects were cleared by the 12th meeting of the state high-power committee presided over by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
