Berhampur ( Orissa ) :After the corruption charges, sexual slur, mismanagement of funds, financial feud, controversial fire at confidential section in Berhampur University, another controversy has came to the fore that may yet again tarnish the image of this leading educational institution of Southern Orissa and might become the headache of Chancellor of the Universities.
One girl student of the Biotechnology has alleged that irresponsible attitude of the authorities was ruining her career growth, besides mental humiliation and stress as her results had been declared as failed, though in a similar case another girl student had been passed after she had brought allegations of sexual slur against the Professor of the department.
Bhagyalaxmi Pradhan, a student of the self-financing M.Sc Biotechnology course, at a press meet here at the Berhampur Press Club, has brought allegations against the university authorities that due to the irresponsible attitude of the authorities her career was ruining. She informed that after the third semester she had gone to New Delhi for a project work which was required as per the curriculum of fourth semester. Meanwhile, the authorities had conducted the seminar at the university and she could not present the seminar paper as the authorities had not informed her. But, on a later date she could manage to present a seminar paper, stated Bhagyalaxmi.
Notably, another student named Manasi Das had also presented the seminar paper at a later date in a similar situation, but her results had been declared as passed after a controversy that gripped the university after Manasi brought allegations of sexual slur against Professor of the department following which Prof Ashok Panigrahi had been suspended.
But, when she had asked Vice-Chancellor Bijay Sahu to publish her third semester results as she wanted to appear in the fourth semester, VC Sahu had then allegedly asked her to file a case against Prof Ashok Panigrahi alleged Manasi adding that VC Sahu had assured her to publish her result if she files the case indicating misbehaviour.
Moreover, Coordinator Prof Usha Rani Acharya had denied her to fill up the form for fourth semester. Then after a repeated request, she was allowed but after taking a undertaking forcefully against her wishes. Moreover, she was not allowed to appear in the mid-semester (internal) examinations, yet her results had been declared as ‘Fail’ without any appearing in the said examination.
Moreover, her results in the fourth semester had also been declared ‘fail’ despite good scoring in most of the papers, lamented Bhagyalaxmi alleging non-cooperation of the authorities.
When she along with her mother and some other persons had gone to appraise the matter to VC Sahu, later did not respond well, alleged Bhagyalaxmi adding that VC Sahu even deliberately avoided her despite knowing everything.
Bhagyalaxmi, at the press meet, even questioned that would she file a case against her Professor alleging misbehaviour only because university authorities would declare her result as ‘passed’?
