Bhubaneswar ( Orissa) : The total number of cases registered in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionarate during the year 2009 is 6935 as against 6636 of the year 2008. The total registered crime has thus increased by 4.5%.
Total percentage of detection in respect of cases registered during the year 2009 so far has been 76.1 % which would increase further in the future days.
However crime in murder , robbery, burglary, theft, swindling, rioting and rape have significantly declined during the year 2009 vis-a -vis 2008. Most discernible decline is in respect of property offence cases such as robbery, burglary, theft and swindling during the year 2009 in comparison to the year 2008.
While crime in dacoity has increased 4.2% as against 47 cases of the year 2008, 49 cases have been registered during the year 2009 which is a negligible increase. The increase is explainable as 30 cases were detected during preparation stage , as against 22 cases of the year 2008 which reflects pro-active police action.
Real dacoity during the year 2009 was 19 as against 25 cases of 2008 which was a decrease in comparison to last year. MV Accident cases registered an increase by 12.2% as during the year 2009 , 918 cases were registered as against 818 cases of the year 2008.
Gambling cases registered in 2008 was 19 and during the year 2009 it is 26.
