Berhampur (Orissa) : In a significant development Ganjam Zilla Parishad Presdient Dharani Dhar Behera has been sent to jail after his bail plea rejected following the arrest by the police from Sarankula of Nayagarh district on Friday.
Notably, Behera, who is a youth leader of the ruling Biju Janata Dal had been absconding since the controversial incident following which the OAS association had lodged FIR against him alleging manhandling of officers at the National level workshop of the NREGS at Chatrapur last week.
Notably, the OAS association of the district had lodged an FIR against Dharani Dhar Behera, the Zilla Parishad President of Ganjam alleging that he had manhandled some OAS officers at the national level seminar of the NREGS held at DRDA conference hall at Chatrapur.
One OAS officer had been injured in the tussle between Dharani and OAS officials at the seminar.
BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik had suspended Dharani form the primary membership of the party after his Ganjam visit 11 January.
Chatrapur police had been searching Dharani who was absconding and had arrested him from Sarankula under the Nayagarh police station on Friday. He was taken to Chatrapur and was sent to jail after his bail plea was rejected.
