Major fire broke out in Dhenkanal, hundreds of homes gutted

Dhenkanal (Orissa) : hundreds of people were on Saturday safely rescued at Basoi in Orissa’s Dhenkamal district following a major fire accident.

Sources said one person sustained burns and at least 50 families were rendered homeless after a fire ravaged their village huts.

Fire-fighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control early Saturday.

The person who sustained burn injuries is in hospital but is out of danger, the official said.

Steps are being taken to provide relief to the affected villagers. The cause of the fire is also being investigated, he added.
