Rayagada (Orissa) : A day after killing four civilians and injuring 10 SOG Jawans in Orissa’s Koraput district, the armed guerrillas of outlawed CPI (Maoists) on Sunday killed a leader of Communist Party of India (Marxists) in steel city here.

The body of the party's district council member Anand Masiharo (35), who was kidnapped by Maoists three days back from his house at Roxy village in K Balang area, was found inside Saranda forest, police sources said.

“They killed Masiharo while suspecting him as a police informer,” Inspector General of Police, western range, Pranabindu Acharya said.

Two of his brothers who had been abducted along with him were, however, released unharmed, the police said.

The brothers, Harinath Munda (30) and Bhainsa Munda (28), were let off with a warning to refrain from helping police.

Both have returned to their house in K Balang area safely, the police said. Meanwhile, CPI (M) State secretary Janardan Pati condemned the killing and condoled the death of his party leader.
