Noted freedom fighter Rajkishor Nayak passes away

Bhubaneswar ( Orissa ) : Noted freedom fighter and two times former Patakura MLA Rajkishor Nayak passed away on Monday after prolonged illness.

86-year-old Nayak, who hails from Kendrapara district and father of State Energy Minster Atanu Sabhyasachi Nayak, was elected to the Orissa legislative assembly twice in 1971 and 1974.

Four daughters and two sons including Minister Atanu survived Nayak. He was a great leader and orator, acknowledged Governor MC Bhandare.

“I am deeply condoled the death of Nayak, who was freedom fighter and social reformer, “Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.

Chief Minister Patnaik and most of his cabinet colleagues offered floral tributes to Nayak.

Leader of Opposition, Bhupinder Singh, BJP State chief Jual Oram, PCC chief KP Singh Deo, Samruddha Odisha chief Dr Jatish Chandra Mohanty, former Minister Bijay Kumar Mohapatra, Kendrapara MP Baijyant Panda and several others condoned the death.

After the news broke out, a large number of people gathered at his Satya Nagar residence here.

Minister Atanu however informed that his late father’s last rite would be performed at his native village Arilo in Kendrapara district this evening.
