Rival students clash at Alaka Mohavidyalaya annual function in Jagatsingpur

Jagatsinghpur (Orissa) : Tension prevailed in Alaka Mahavidyalaya premises during the annual dramatic function held on Saturday when two rival students groups fought a pitch of battle at the cultural function. Later the programme was cancelled.

A ten year old boy Rajesh Pattnaik who was witnessing the programme injured when a plastic chair hurled by a particular student group hit him.

Reports said the injured boy hailing from Rourkela and were residing in his one of relative’s house in Tanchhana village in Anakhia under Biridi area and visited Alaka Mohavidyalaya dramatic function on Saturday afternoon and sit in front of stage.

The incident occurred during cultural function for a particular song to be sing by the melody party and two students group confronted in the event. As result the irate student rushed to stage and hurled chairs each others that hit the boy sitting in the front row.

Ironically police too had deployed in spot did not take any step to nab the unruly students. Few students took the injured boy to Jagatsinghpur hospital for treatment immediately but as his condition turned critical, he was sent to SCB Medical College and hospital for treatment on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile Sudarsan Satapathy, the principal Alaka Mohavidyalaya confirmed the incident occurred on Saturday during function and charged few non college students involved in the incident and spoiled the function spirit.

Meanwhile resentments are brewing among the local residents, blamed college authorities for the incident and demanded no precautionary measures had taken during the function, they alleged.
