Bhubaneswar (Orissa): Abhijit Mishra, a student of Eastern Academy of Science and Technology (EAST) has won the BIG FM's Super Singer battle and cash award of Rs 25,000 with an album contract with Sa Re Ga Ma.
Amrita Bharati Panda, a Class-X student of RSS run Saraswati Sishu Mandir at Kharvel Nagar area of the city won the runners up trophy and cash prize of Rs 15,000 with an album contract with Sa Re Ga Ma.
Earlier, around 2,000 participants from across the State fought a month long music battle but the two could manage to reach at the top level.
Six contestants fought for champions' trophy in the final while 6 judges monitoring their performance but Abhijit wins and became Abhijit Sawant of Orissa here at Nicco Park.
Sa Re Ga Ma's manager Goutam Bose, who witnessed the music battle however acknowledged the talents of Orissa and hoped a better future of both Abhijit and Amrita. Bose and former Indian Hockey Captain, Defender Dilip Tirkey gave away the awards.
The first round was hosted at Patia Big Bazar from April 17 to May 26 this year followed by second round at KIIT Auditorium, where 30 contestants out of 2,000 fought but in third round at Hotel Marion, only 10 could managed to perform on account of their ranking.
The budding singers sang Modern, Rap, Pop, Classical and Bhajans during the competition, informed Vinod Banerjee, Station Head of BIG 92.7 FM. He said that in semi-final round hosted at IMIS Campus on July 25, 10 tried their best but only 6 picked for final on basis of voting and marks of various judges.
