Bhubaneswar (Orissa): It seems honeymoon is over and marriage is continuing between ruling BJD and BJP. Protesting against the failure of the Naveen Patnaik led Orissa Government to nab the killers and conspirators behind Swami Laxmananda Saraswati brutal murder case, BJP, which is part of the Government, stalled the proceedings in the first day of the Winter Session of the State Assembly.
The hard-hitting stand of the Saffron party came a day after its MLAs boycotted a joint legislature party meet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. This was for the first time during last 10 years that the BJP MLAs including senior Minister Biswa Bhusan Harichandan did not give any indication to the Chief Minister regarding the anger.
Party MLAs and Ministers squalled into the well demanding immediate arrest of the killers of Swamiji, forcing two sudden adjournments. As soon as the Question Hour began after the House made obituary statements, BJP MLAs were enthusiastic in their demand for the arrest of the killers.
As many of them trooped into the well shouting that the House would not be allowed to function until their demand was met. Speaker Kishore Mohanty was seen appealing to the agitated members to maintain order. Even, BJP Minister KV Singh Deo ignored the request of the Speaker.
However, the BJP legislators were in no mood to relent saying the real culprits and mastermind were yet to be arrested even after three months of the killing of Saraswati and four others.
As repeated pleas by the Speaker Mohanty as well as Parliamentary Affairs minister Raghunath Mohanty to the BJP members to allow the Question Hour to proceed went unheeded, the house was adjourned till 12 noon.
Similar scenes were witnessed when the house reassembled leading to another adjournment till 12.55 hrs, when the House met after 2 adjournments, two private university bills were introduced not by the Higher Education Minister, Samir Dey, who belong to BJP but by Raghunath Mohanty, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, belonging to BJD.
The firm stand of the BJP came as a result of the pressure of RSS, which is still under severe psychological tension since the brutal murder of Swamiji on August 23 in Kandhamal district.
Three months have been passed since the incident took place but the Crime Branch of the Orissa Police, looking into the murder case, yet to get any headway.
Political intelligence gathering system has failed inside the BJD to scale the anger of the Sangh Pariwar in the aftermath of Swamiji's killing, resulting huge embarrassment for the bachelor Chief Minister.
Though, the decision might not create a big gap between the two mainstream political parties in the State and that could lead to collapse of the Naveen Patnaik Government but the attitude of the BJP, clearly demonstrating that the RSS is in no mood to leave the killers and conspirators of Swamiji.
Since, RSS is very critical over the attitude of the Orissa Government and particularly, Orissa Chief Minister's pro-minority secular credentials, BJP has no other way out instead to boycott the meet to send a strong message for the BJD boss.
Senior Sangh leaders including Sarasanghachalak KS Sudarshan, VHP leaders including Ashok Singhal, Pravin Togadia and other RSS leaders in Orissa are not easily digesting the way, the Orissa Chief Minister handling the Kandhamal crisis.
In fact, Orissa Chief Minister received shock of his life on November 25 and he, who used to spring surprise to others on different occasions, could not get inkling of the anger among the BJP MLAs.
