Bhubaneswar (Orissa): Small screen actresses Leslie Tripathy, Bidusmita Mantri and studio owner Jubilee Sundaray on Saturday apprehended that a few police officials in the city are helping gangster Raja Acharya, against whom they have already lodged an FIR for his defamatory SMS texts and threatening calls.

Through SMS texts, the gangster has apparently offered to quit his life of crime if Leslie agrees to marry him.

The three album industry personalities however, demanded a CBI probe into the obscene MMS controversy. Raja, the key accused in Judo coach Biranchi Das murder case making threatening calls and sending SMS texts on their cell phone even despite being in Jharpada jail, they said.

They also released the recording of the communication being exchanged between Leslie and Raja couple of days back.

"The caller identifying himself as AK Patnaik of Students Congress has been persuading me to agree with Raja's proposal and there after the gangster himself requested me for marriage," Leslie claimed.

Leslie again told reporters that it was getting "scarier" as days passed. Biranchi had extended his helping hand to me, she added.

"What could be worse than a criminal having access to a cell phone from inside the jail. The feeling of being insecure is only increasing. We feel like we have guns on our heads. What will happen if he gets out? We can only hope that the Orissa police do its best to protect our lives," they added.

"I had hoped that the matter would come to an end, once he was put behind bars. But I'm shocked that such a thing continues even from the jail," said Leslie.

Meanwhile, neither city police nor the Prison Department has approached the court seeking the gangster handcuffed. Sources said that everybody is saying but no legal steps have been taken so far in this regard.

However, according to Orissa Jail Manual, handcuffing any person during judicial custody may invite compensation for the accused.

Even, a day after the tall claim of IG (Prisons) V Thiagarajan, no special steps have been taken in Jharpada jail to check the nefarious activities of the dreaded gangster. Jail sources said that Raja even not seemed perturbed in the wake of the fresh allegation by the actresses against him.
