Bhubaneswar (Orissa): Worried over the attitude of BJP MLAs over the killing of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati, Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reportedly rang up senior BJP leader LK Advani seeking his help to pacify the MLAs here.

Advani, who is NDA's Prime Ministerial candidate, in turn, asked party president Rajnath Singh to talk with the MLAs, sources said.

Singh have talked to State BJP leadership as a result of which, BJP MLAs preferred to maintain silence on Thursday. Singh and the party's General Secretary Vinay Katiyar have asked the state BJP president Suresh Pujari to keep the MLAs in order.

Interestingly, BJP leaders including Pujari, Panchanan Rout and Prasanna Mishra sat on the Speaker's Gallery to monitor the movement of the MLAs who crossed the limit.

Sources said the BJD Boss contacted Advani. Naveen, who is considered as the honest partner in the NDA, exercised his clout within the BJP top brass to silence the boisterous BJP MLAs.

The Saffron party members of the House, despite being in Treasury Bench, embarrassed the Government. Earlier, the State party leadership had contacted all the MLAs asking them to behave properly in the House, if they wanted the coalition to grow instead of helping the opposition Congress.

Congress leaders raised the issue during Zero Hour and alleged that a deal has been sealed to broker peace.

BJP legislature party leader B B Harichandan who on the other day was silent during the pandemonium in a statement said that the party MLAs refrained from making any noise as the Government had agreed to hold a discussion on Kandhamal issue.

The incident had proved at least one thing that Naveen had more hold and influence on Advani than Harichandan and any other leader in the state who switched up to reverse gear.
