Bhubaneswar ( Orissa) : With prohibitory order of 144 on, police did no mistake to enforce it on Sadhus and Santhas, who were all most all enthusiastic to pay their last respect to Swamiji, who fought relentlessly against forcibly conversion and cow slaughtering in Orissa's tribal zones.
The Sadhus and Santhas wearing their traditional saffron dress, were early in the morning gathered here to take part in a rally that was planned to start from Ram Mandir Square to Freedom Fighters' Ground, where State level Sradhanjali Sabha for Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati held.
However the police backed by a strong missive from Naveen Niwas, round the clock parked at both end in Ram Mandir Square and Housing Board Square.
As a result of which, Sadhus and Santhas had to fly from the joining point and one by one reach the venue. While, police also arrested several Sadhus on their way to the venue and few were detained at city Railway Station.
"The attempt to stop us taking part in the rally was most unfortunate and uncalled for. Since, we all committed for a peaceful Sradhanjali Sabha, there was no need of police action and arrest," Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati Sradhanjali Sabha convener, Swami Jiban Chaitnya Maharaj said.
As many as six platoons of CRPF, 10 platoons of OSAP, five platoons of APR Constables, two additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, 4 Assistant Commissioner of Police have been deployed to maintain law and order situation in the city for Sradhanjali Sabha.
City Deputy Commissioner of Police Himanshu K Lal along with a dozens of IIC rank officials are patrolling the city.
