Orissa CM’s nightmare goes up as 18 farmers committed suicide in State

Bhubaneswar (Orissa) : The nightmare of Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has gone up with reports of farmer suicide continued to be unabated. Sources said that as many as 18 farmers have been committed suicide during last one month.

Though, the State Government had announced few packages for the farmers, it was failed completely with dept ridden farmers are killing themselves.

Official sources said on Friday that during last two days, at least four farmers have been committed suicide. According to reports, Baldeb Barik of Keseipalli village under Loisingha block of Bolangir district allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide.

In another incident, Dhanu Champia a farmer from Balisamla village near Salepur in Cuttack district consumed poison and he died after battling for life at SCB medical college and hospital for last three days.

The third victim, Ugrasen Mahananda from Khatkhatia village under Kantamal block of Boudh district allegedly committed suicide over crop loss and loan burden.

Earlier, at least 15 farmers had been committed suicide in State’s Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur, Balasore and Jajpur districts.
