Bhubaneswar( Orissa ): Orissa Government has appointed five 2007 batch IPS
officers as Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPO).
According to Government notification, Rajesh U Pandit has been
appointed as SDPO of Barbil in Keonjhar district followed by Awinash
Kumar posted as SDPO of Malkangiri.
Similarly, Nitisekhar posted as SDPO Gunupur in Rayagada district
followed by Sarthak Sarangi as SDPO of Baliguda in Kandhamal.
Satyendra Kumar has been posted as SDPO Koraput while OPS officer
Arjun Bhoi has been appointed as DCP (Headquarters) in twin city
police.
Meanwhile, the Government has urged Union Home Ministry to increase
State cadre of IPS by another 21 posts.
Once MHA approves, the number of IPS officers would go up to 180 from
the existing 159.
The sanctioned IPS officers' strength in the State stands at 159.
While 111 posts are filled up with the direct recruitment from IPS
cadre, the rest 48 posts are filled up by giving promotion to the
police office of OPS cadre to IPS ranks.
The State has 99 IPS officers, who were recruited directly whereas the
posts of 48 promoted IPS officers have been lying vacant.
