Maoists call Orissa bandh on Republic Day

Bhubaneswar (Orissa) : The nightmare of Orissa’s outgoing Police Chief Manmohan Praharaj has further aggravated with the outlawed CPI(Maoists) calling a shut down in protest against the arrest of Saswati Das alias Mili Panda, wife of Sabyasachi Panda, who heads the outfit in the State.

A release reached in the local Media houses jointly signed by Bhaskar and Sunil, the CPI (Maoist) gave a Orissa bandh call on January 26 protesting arrest of Subhashree and others , and demanding release of all including Subhashree without any condition.

The outfit’s Chhattisgarh unit also called for a bandh, which will be major concern for Orissa cops as the borders with the nieghbouring State, might be remain tense during the bandh period.

Comrade Subhashree merely led the propaganda of Maoist literature and ideology for the last ten years.

Arresting her for such work is nothing but an attack on democratic right of a person by the State, the press release said and called for a movement across the State. In this connection, the party called for economic blockade across the State on January 25 and 26 and emphasised on Orissa Bandh on the Republic Day.
