Orissa put on alert to avoid infiltration of Lalgarh Maoists

Bhubaneswar ( Orissa ) : With crack down on the armed cadres of the outlawed CPI(Maoists) continued in neighbouring West Bengal's Lalgarh, the Union Home Ministry has asked Orissa Government to keep close watch on bordering areas with Bengal to avoid infiltration of leftwing wing ultras, who are on run.

According senior Intelligence officials here, MHA in its missive, apprehended that some 7000 fleeing Maoists might sneaked into Orissa, besides three other States including Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh after the week long crack down.

"We have issued a communiqué to our men guarding State's border with Bengal to keep an eye on bus stands, railway stations, hotels, dharamshalas and nursing homes where the fleeing rebels might try and take shelter," a senior Intelligence official added.

Sources said that several senior Maoists leaders including Vikasji, the secretary of the Purulia-Bankura-West Midnapore zonal committee, Kishanji, the politburo member, Kanchan, the Bengal State committee secretary, and Rakeshji, a member of the Bengal-Jharkhand-Orissa border regional committee might snaked into Orissa after crossing over into Ghatshila from Lalgarh.
