Incumbent President, Ranjib Biswal and Honorary Secretary, Ashirbad Behera today romped home with their 2nd and a hatrick win respectively in the election for the post of office bearers of Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) on Sunday.
The election for the post of different office bearers were held today in the Barabati Palace inside the campus of Barabati Stadium amid tight security. The results were declared in the afternoon, in which Ranjib defeated his nearest rival Pradeep Chouhan, the former treasurer by a margin 102 votes. Chouhan managed to get only 45 votes.
It may be noted that, the election for the post of President, Secretary and treasurer were directly contested in this year. Ranjib Biswal is the first President in the history of Orissa Cricket association to won twice.
Ashirbad has made hatrick with three consecutive win as Honorary Secretary of Orissa Cricket Association. Ashirbad pooled 121 votes while his nearest rival Anand Chandra Nayak managed to get only 26 votes.
Satya Mohanty from the panel of Ashirbad also won for the post of treasurer defeating his nearest rival Hari Narayan Pujari.
In these election candidates from the Ashirbad Behera supported panel trumped Pradip Chouhan supported group to the ground with win.
Pyarimohan Mohapatra, M.P, Samir Dey, Higher Education Minister, Gopal Chandra Nanda, D.G Police and Satyakam Mishra, Registrar, Ravenshaw University were the heavyweights who voted in the election of Orissa Cricket Association on Sunday besides other members from different affiliated clubs and bodies.
