Cuttack (Orissa) : The Barabati Statdium is rearing to host the upcoming day-night N.K.P Salve Challenger Trophy beginning from 23rd of this month in the city. The matches will start from 23rd and the final match will be held on 26th, Sunday.
Extensive arrangements are being given finishing touches to host this prestigious tournament , said Ashirbad Behera, secretary of Orissa Cricket Association(OCA) in a press conference on Sunday evening here at the newly built conference hall of OCA Media Centre of the stadium.
The day-night matches will be played between three teams titled India Red, India Blue and India Green on knock out basis.
As more than 20 players of international repute are participating in this tournament, OCA has made elaborate security arrangements for them.
On security arrangements he said, OCA has taken up their security concern with the Cuttack district administration and the city Commissionerate police.
As per the information received the players and officials are slated to reach here by Tuesday.
Accommodation for the players, umpires, match referee, selectors and other BCCI officials has been made at Hotel Mayfair Lagoon, Bhubaneswar.
The pitch and outfield is ready and prepared as per BCCI guidelines under the supervision of BCCI and OCA curators and has been tested in the Ranji trial matches.
Entry to different galleries for general public to watch the matches is made free, while the pavilion and Club House is kept reserved for the VIP’s and OCA members to witness the matches.
As per the recent capacity of Barabati Stadium more than 33 thousands spectators can witness the matches.
Neo Sports Channel will telecast live action of the matches while All India Radio (AIR), Cuttack will broadcast the running commentary of the matches.
It may be recalled that, star players like Yuvraj Singh, Robin Utthapa, Dinesh Kartik, Virat Kohli, Irfan Pathan, Md. Kaif, S. Badrinath, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Rudra Pratap Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra, Parthiv Patel, S. Praveen Kumar, Rohit Sharma, Piyush Chawala and Monoj Tiwari are the members of these three teams.
On 23rd India Red will meet India Blue and on 24th India Green will take on India Red.
Similarly India Green will meet India Blue on 25th and the final match will be held on 26th. All the four matches will be played under floodlight and will be of day-night basis starting from 2 P.M everyday.
Raju Mukherjee of Bengal is the Match Referee while S.K. Tarapore, S.S. Hazare, Sudhir Asnani and Amish Saheba are the Umpires of this match with V.K. Ramaswamy of Hyderabad acting as the umpiring coach.
OCA Secretary, Ashirbad Behera has appealed the people of the state to make this tournament successful by witnessing the matches in large numbers which is going to be organised for the very first time in Orissa.
