The ICC has declared the ‘ICC Awards 2008’ in a spectacular ceremony organized at Dubai on Wednesday night. Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh were among the recipients of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Award 2008.

While Dhoni was the ODI Player of the Year, Yuvraj got the award for the Twenty20 International Performance of the Year for hitting six sixes in one over against England during ICC World Twenty20 Championship.

Dhoni is one of the best captains India has ever produced in the recent times, said by former cricketer Javagal Srinath. He is currently ranked number one in the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen.

Dhoni, along with Sachin Tendulkar, also figured among the members of ICC’s World ODI Team of the Year, with Australia’s Ricky Ponting as captain.

Virender Sehwag is part of the ICC World Test Team of the Year. Sri Lanka’s new find Ajantha Mendis has won the Emerging Player of the Year award at the LG ICC Awards ceremony in Dubai.
